Course Description:

French 1 introduces the students to the language with an emphasis on reading, writing, speaking and understanding basic French. This is accomplished by use of audio, video and written practices in the language lab. The fundamentals of grammar and communication are introduced, and an appreciation of French-speaking people and their cultures is promoted.  Students will also read a short story during the year.  This course is designed for students with no prior experience in French.

Unit Structure:

Glenbard students enrolled in French 1 will experience the same curriculum designed to provide students with a rich linguistic experience that incorporates the four modes of communication (listening, reading, writing and speaking). ~~~~

Common Assessments:

All students take a district wide pre-assessment given in September to assess both content and skill objectives and two summative semester finals. ~~Below is a breakdown of the assessments by semester:
