ATHLETIC STRATEGIC PLAN

The Athletic Strategic Plan Committee has worked with the Assistant Principals for Athletics over the summer and into October to develop a long-term plan for athletics.

The planning process translated needs and requirements into goals, measures and actions.  The committee reviewed data, records, artifacts and best practice.  Below you will find the DRAFT plan that they are will be presenting to the Board of Education for discussion at their October 27 meeting.

Please review the plan below and then answer the following question.

Mission:
We are an athletic community dedicated to providing a competitive athletic environment that empowers and inspires student athletes.

Vision:
The Glenbard Athletic Department is committed to developing student athletes that are:
Dedicated learners
Unselfish teammates
Multiple sport athletes
Role models for a healthy lifestyle
Role models for sportsmanship
Leaders who develop pride in their school
Committed to excellence

Core Values:
Academic Success:
Athletes should be held to high standards in both athletics and
academics. We believe student athletes need to develop time management skills to balance
success in both areas.

Teamwork:
All student athletes can be positive contributors to the team. Each teammate
can be responsible, accountable and dependable.

Multiple Sport Athletes:
Student athletes should strive to be well-rounded athletes who are
committed to development in various sports, especially at lower levels, in order to reach their
maximum potential.

Healthy Lifestyle:
Athletics fosters a healthy lifestyle year round, encouraging students to
make good choices. Student athletes should maintain a chemically free lifestyle in order to
achieve optimal performance.

Sportsmanship:
All student athletes demonstrate sportsmanship by respecting teammates,
opponents, officials and the game.

Leaders Who Develop Pride in Their School:
We believe student athletes should
demonstrate pride, respect and commitment to their teams, schools, and community through
quality play and a positive attitude.

Commitment:
Every student athlete should demonstrate the commitment and work ethic
necessary to be successful. Every student should have the opportunity to participate in the
