Naming Buildings and Facilities
Recognizing that the name for a school building, facility, or field reflects on its public image, the Board’s primary consideration will be to select a name that enhances the credibility and stature of the school or facility. Any request to name or rename an existing facility should be submitted to the Board. When a facility is to be named or renamed, the Board President will ask the Superintendent/Designee to appoint a special ad hoc committee to consider nominations and make a recommendation, along with supporting rationale, to the Board. The Committee should be compromised of former staff members as well as current school administrators from each school in the district. The Board will make the final selection.
Facilities may be named for but not limited to:
Distinguished retired staff members or students who have made extraordinary contributions to District 87.
Distinguished persons in public life who have an attachment to District 87.
Donors who have made substantial contributions to District 87.
