Administrative Procedure – Energy Conservation
Glenbard Township High School District #87 desires to provide a comfortable and safe working environment while also conserving energy and natural resources. These regulations will be implemented at each building by the Building Principals and the Director of Buildings and Grounds:
1. Do not use personal items in classrooms unless otherwise approved by the building principal or designee:
a. Refrigerators
b. Portable electric heaters
c. Coffee makers
d. Microwave ovens
e. Humidifiers/dehumidifiers
f. Hot plates (not instructional use)
g. Toaster ovens
2. Use the approximate heating and cooling conversion dates:
a. Heating — October 15
b. Cooling — May 15
3. Turn off lights in areas or rooms that are vacant.
4. Building HVAC systems work best when windows and doors in classrooms are closed. Please keep this in mind when managing your classroom.
5. Turn off computer monitors for the evenings and weekends. We do ask that the computers also be turned off for weekends and long break periods such as winter and spring breaks.
6. Limit the amount of athletic lighting used to be appropriate for the activity and used only when necessary.
7. Building administration will designate areas for after school activities to minimize energy consumption whenever possible.
8. Do not alter pre-set temperatures on thermostat.
9. Activate HVAC systems no sooner than necessary prior to students and staff arrival and must be de-activated as soon as practical after the completion of school activities.
