General Personnel

Staff Development Program

The Superintendent or designee shall implement a staff development program for certified school personnel. The program shall be designed to effectuate the School Improvement Plan so that student learning objectives meet or exceed goals established by the District and State.

The staff development program shall provide, at a minimum, at least once every 2 years, the in-service training of certificated school personnel and administrators on current best practices regarding the identification and treatment of attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, the application of non-aversive behavioral interventions in the school environment, and the use of psychotropic or psycho-stimulant medication for school-age children.

At least once every 2 years, the in-service training of certified school personnel and administrators shall include training on current best practices regarding the identification and treatment of attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, the application of non-aversive behavioral interventions in the school environment, and the use of psychotropic or psycho-stimulant medication for school-age children.

All staff members are encouraged to acquire, develop, and maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to properly administer first aid and life saving techniques such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator in accordance with standards and requirements established by the American Red Cross or another qualified certifying agency. The
Staff Development Program may offer the above types of training.
