1. New Course Proposal initiated by:
Teacher Department Chairman Administrator
2. Considered by department and endorsed by chairperson (by December 15)
3. Forwarded to Assistant Principal of Instruction (API), reviewed by Principal, API and Associate
Superintendent for Educational Services (by January 15)
4. Reviewed by Instructional Council (by January 30)
5. The Curriculum Subcommittee of the Board of Education reviews abstract (by February 15)
6. Endorsed or denied by Building Principal (by February 15)
7. Reviewed during meeting of all Building API’s (by February 28)
8. Considered by District Administrative Council (by March 15) Approved or Disapproved
9. Reviewed by the Curriculum Subcommittee of the Board of Education (by April 1)
10. If a new course (never before offered in District 87) forward to Board of Education (by April 15)
11. If Board of Education approves, course is added to curriculum
12. Description printed in Student Enrollment Handbook
13. Summer workshop scheduled to develop performance objectives
14. If sufficient enrollment, course is established
