Extracurricular and Co-Curricular Activities
The Superintendent shall establish a well-rounded program of extracurricular activities within the financial
limits determined by the Board of Education.
Definition and Purpose
An extracurricular activity is any activity provided by a building but not listed in that building’s enrollment
handbook. The program of extracurricular activities shall seek to provide opportunities to students for
service, pleasure, academic enrichment, leadership, and development of individual and group responsibility.
Student Behavior
1. Behavior consistent with the purposes of the activity and the District’s Student Discipline policy
shall be expected of all students who participate in extracurricular activities.
2. Exemplary behavior, in and out of school, and above the minimum standards described above
shall be expected of all students:
who are in positions of trust and leadership in an extracurricular activity; or
who participate in an extracurricular activity, such as student government, which by its
nature places students in a position to influence the reputation, morale, and general well
being of the schools.
3. The Superintendent or designee may deny the privilege of participation in extracurricular activities
to those students who violate these standards.
Non-school sponsored student groups are governed by the District's policy on student use of school
buildings.
