Administrative Procedure – Instructional Materials

Teachers who have identified a movie to be used in the curriculum of their classroom must preview the
movie. The teacher must be aware of the motion picture industry rating for the film.

The building principal must approve the showing of any unrated movie or movie rated “R†by the Motion Picture Association of America (including foreign films).

Any teacher who shows a film rated “R†to students before, during, or after school must have given all parents of students seven day prior written notice as indicated in 6:210-E1. No NC-17 and no “X†rated films are to be shown under any circumstances.

Teachers must indicate in class lesson plans when the movie will be shown and the rationale and curriculum connection for the movie.

Teachers are strongly encouraged to only show the relevant portions of a movie.
