Student Testing and Assessment Program
The District student assessment program provides information for determining individual student
achievement and guidance needs, curriculum and instruction effectiveness, as well as school
performance measured against District student learning objectives and statewide norms.
The Superintendent or designee shall develop and supervise a student assessment program and shall
provide appropriate data to the Board to allow it to monitor the program’s results. The program will:
1. Use appropriate assessment methods and instruments. It may include norm and criterion referenced
achievement tests, aptitude tests, proficiency tests, and teacher-developed tests.
2. Be uniformly applied to all students who are required to be tested.
3. Conform to the schedule required by State law and State Board of Education rules. It may
include testing of students in grades not required by State law to be tested.
4. Emphasize the code of ethics for test administration.
The Prairie State Achievement Examination results shall be recorded in the student’s permanent
school record. All other test results shall be recorded in the student’s temporary school record. All
test results are available only to the student, the student’s parent(s)/guardian(s), and school personnel
directly involved with the student’s educational program, pursuant to Board policy 7:340, Student
Records. Overall student assessment data on tests required by State law will be aggregated by the
District and reported, along with other information, on the District’s annual report card.
