Sept. 21 event to provide tools for achieving one’s dreams

Families United in Support of Equity and Excellence (FUSE) for African-American students and the Glenbard Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families will present a back-to-school luncheon and special event, In the Spirit of Excellence/Achieving the Dream, with Sonya Whitaker at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Marquardt School District 15 administration center, 1860 Glen Ellyn Road in Glendale Heights.

Whitaker empowers families with an introduction to the business model referred to as PIE (performance, image and exposure), a framework to govern one’s actions to achieve success in both school and life. She will introduce several avenues students can choose from as they work toward achieving their dreams.

Following Whitaker’s remarks, the FUSE organization invites all to enjoy lunch during recognition of the academic accomplishments of many of our students. The mission of FUSE is to provide Glenbard families with the tools, resources and education to equip students for success. Attend all three FUSE events and be eligible to earn the 2019-20 FUSE $1,000 scholarship.
