to determine reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities.
B. Students are mainstreamed into the regular program as rapidly as possible through intensive ELL
instruction and sheltered mainstream courses.
C. With teacher recommendation and satisfactory performance on tests, students will be fully
mainstreamed.
Graduation Credit
A. To qualify for graduation credit from a Glenbard High School, ELL students must complete the regular
graduation requirements.
B. Previous transcripts must be obtained in order to grant graduation credit for courses taken before
attending a Glenbard school. In extraordinary circumstances, however, graduation credit may be
granted by the Guidance Director in the absence of a transcript for previous course work according to
demonstrated academic ability.
C. Graduation credit in English is given for ELL English Courses.
Grading Procedures
A. Whenever possible, mainstreamed ELL students will receive grades on the same basis as the regular
students.
B. In those cases in which the course background, content or pace is unreasonably difficult, the
mainstreamed ELL student will receive a modified grade:
The permanent record of the ELL student shall
include an “M” in the title of all courses that were
modified to meet the student’s individual needs.
