Opportunity to purchase Glenbard District 87 bonds
The approval of a $183 million referendum in the spring of 2024 will allow for significant improvements to be made to our school facilities here in Glenbard District 87. The bonds will be issued in three separate offerings, with the first one ($60 million) taking place on April 28, 2025.

Individuals, including District 87 residents, may invest directly in funding the future of our educational facilities by purchasing district bonds.

The minimum amount required to invest is approximately $5,000, and investments must be made in $5,000 increments. Individual investors interested in purchasing Glenbard 87 bonds should reach out directly to Stifel (630-845-7900) or Blaylock (312-391-9494) to get specific instructions.

In order to invest, you will need to reach out to a Stifel or Blaylock investment advisor and open an account, unless you already have one. This may take a day or two, so contacting them in advance is best. Beginning on Thursday, April 24th, your representative will have an idea of the expected interest rate. Your order would need to be placed with your representative prior to the final order period on the morning of Monday, April 28th. Later that day, you will be notified of the final details of the proposed purchase of bonds by your representative.

Glenbard North Theatre to present “The Addams Family” April 24 through 26
Glenbard North Theatre proudly presents its spring musical production, “The Addams Family” from April 24-26.

As stated in the synopsis from Theatrical Rights Worldwide, “The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.”

East students attend cybersecurity conference
Last month, 17 Glenbard East computer science students attended Chicago CyberCon, hosted by the Illinois Institute of Technology, a designated Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education. The conference brought together industry leaders, researchers and students to explore the future of secure computing.

Keynote speaker Dr. Calvin Nobles, Dean of the School of Cybersecurity and Information Technology at the University of Maryland, emphasized the importance of the human factor in cybersecurity and the role of human-centered engineering in sustaining the industry’s growth.

Students also participated in panel discussions on:

  • Generative AI’s impact on cybersecurity
  • Career pathways (certifications, military or university)
  • Communicating cybersecurity to senior leadership
  • Security behavior and culture programs
  • The 3 R’s of cyber defense: resilience, risk management, and resource efficiency

The conference gave students the chance to explore cybersecurity careers, connect with professionals and learn about educational pathways in this evolving field.

Student Josh Roimicher reflected, “I loved attending the conference – it opened my eyes to the ever-changing nature of cybersecurity and showed the growing opportunities with AI and quantum computing. It also highlighted the importance of networking and soft skills to build real-world connections that can lead to future job opportunities.”

The students were grateful for opportunities like this that connect students with secure computing professionals and inspire the next generation of cybersecurity leaders.

One Community and Glenbard students building understanding
On April 14th, One Community celebrated 34 Glenbard students who participated in a series titled “Conversations on Race and Belonging”. This marks the fifth year that community members – including police chiefs, community leaders, parents, high school principals, assistant principals, faculty members, school counselors and school resource officers – have joined students to share their individual experiences. The initiative highlights students’ volunteering efforts both within and outside of school to enhance the educational experience for others through their leadership.

Several students spoke about the significance of these conversations as a space where they discovered common ground, found support and expressed their voices. Congratulations to our seniors!
