East to present student-directed play
Glenbard East Theatre will present “Our Place,” a student-directed one-act play, on Aug. 31 and Sept.1.

“Our Place” is a touching and humorous play directed by student Katie Pruyn. The play follows four stories that each take place on the same dock by a small lake.  Cast members include: Jacob Velasco, Emma Johnson, Kaitlin Murphy, Anthony Nichols, Linaea Walsh, Reed Brooks, Fiona Bilkey,  Lauren Wilinski, Eva Nikdod, Corinne Petiprin and Peyton Vari.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 in Rider Hall at Glenbard East. Tickets are $3 and may be purchased at the door. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, everyone participating in the play and all audience members will need to wear masks while in the high school. Audience members need to maintain 3 feet social distance, including leaving an empty seat between patrons in the theatre.

For more information, call the theatre at 630-424-6640.

– resolution directing the school treasurer to transfer funds from the Education Fund to the Capital Projects Fund for $4,000,000. We project that our days cash on hand will be 195.9 days at the end of fiscal year 2021. The board has indicated that dollars in excess of our 180-day days cash on hand target should be considered for capital project investment. Given the need for additional capital improvements for the upcoming budget year, we propose a permanent fund transfer of $4 million from the Education Fund to the Capital Projects Fund. This transfer will bring our days cash on hand down to approximately 186 days, still in excess of the Illinois State Board of Education’s target of 180 days cash on hand.

– intergovernmental agreements for paramedic services at football games with the Carol Stream Fire Protection District at Glenbard North football games at the rate of $150 per hour, with the Village of Lombard at Glenbard East football games at the rate of $120 per hour, and with the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District at Glenbard South football games at the rate of $140 per hour. The paramedics will be parked at the school during the football games for rapid response in the event of an emergency medical situation.

– the 2021-2022 My Life dba Team Select Home Care contract to provide nursing services at a rate of $61.75 per hour. We have used private contract services with My Life and other companies to provide nursing supports in and around the school day for years.  Students with severe medical needs must be provided nursing services on the school bus and during the day, and My Life dba Team Select Home Care will be able to assist us in coordinating services needed.

BOARD INFORMATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS INCLUDED:

– school year 2021-2022 update. Administrators updated the board about current safety mitigations, SHIELD surveillance testing, local COVID-19 metrics, supports for student illness or quarantine and the active learning taking place in our classrooms.
