GPS speaker to discuss fostering healthy, joyful relationships
The GPS Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families will host best-selling author Alexandra Solomon in a program titled Cultivating Healthy Relationships for Joy, Peace and a Meaningful Life on Wednesday, March 12. This program will be presented in a hybrid in-person and Zoom webinar format in the Silverleaf Room at the Culinary and Hospitality Center at College of DuPage from 12-1:30 p.m. and via Zoom from 7-8:30 p.m. Go to the GPS Parent Series website for information and the links to these webinars.

Research shows that relationships are the biggest determinant of one’s overall happiness and sense of purpose. Yet people are seldom taught how to “do” relationships. Solomon will explain relationship patterns and what’s behind them. Whether it’s concerning a relationship with a partner, a parent-child relationship or a relationship with oneself, participants will discover insights to repair ruptures and improve communication and connection. Solomon will present strategies to be one’s authentic self while building relationships founded in curiosity, authenticity and integrity.

Continuing professional development units are available for this program.

Solomon is a licensed clinical psychologist and couple’s therapist in private practice, and she is on faculty at Northwestern University where she teaches Building Loving and Lasting Relationships: Marriage 101 which has drawn international media attention. She is the author of three award-winning books including “Loving Bravely: 20 Lessons of Self-Discovery to Help You Get the Love You Want” and “Love Every Day: 365 Relational Self-Awareness Practices to Help Your Relationship Heal, Grow, and Thrive.” Solomon also hosts the podcast, Reimagining Love.
