Glenbard INCubator Final Pitch Night results
Students from all four Glenbard high schools competed on May 7th at the inaugural district-wide INCubator Final Pitch Night contest. Teams of students in the Dual Credit Entrepreneurship courses worked all year to create and fully develop a product or service, putting their thoughts and ideas into action by creating a business startup. They were supported by their Glenbard teachers and local business professionals who volunteered as coaches, mentors and judges for the competition.

Congratulations to Glenbard East’s Fidget Flair team who won the competition and received $5,000 to be used toward growing their business. Fidget Flair team members: Kentrell Adams, Alex Cook, Shiv Patel, Brooke Seymore and Evelyn Torres. Mentor: Don Prochilo.

Thank you to all the students, families and community members who attended the event to support our Glenbard student entrepreneurs.

Glenbard West principals take on the ice bucket challenge and students Chalk the Walk for mental health
Glenbard West Students For Students Club (SFS) partnered with Principal Ben Peterselli and Assistant Principal for Student Services Peter Baker to promote May as Mental Health Awareness Month on Friday, May 9th. Students participated in a “Chalk the Walk” event, writing positive mental health messages. SFS members passed out 988 resources, bracelets and stickers to promote mental health awareness. The event culminated in Mr. Baker and Mr. Peterselli taking the ice bucket challenge. They enjoyed some icy water on a balmy 45-degree morning, nominating other district administrators, including incoming Superintendent Jessica Santee, to participate in the viral awareness challenge.

Students with concerns about improving their mental health can reach out to trusted staff members, counselors, school psychologists and social workers, and are encouraged to utilize the 988 text and phone line if experiencing a mental health crisis. Caregivers can access past GPS Parent Series events on the GPS website or YouTube channel. Be sure to check out the recent Q&A with suicide authority Dr. Jonathan Singer here.
