district-funded flag football proposal. On behalf of the Glenbard flag football program, assistant principals for athletics D’Wayne Bates, Matthew Bowser, Tim Carlson and Joe Kain have submitted a proposal for the team to become a district-funded sport.

Flag football ran as a club for the 2024-25 school year and has grown into a robust IHSA-sanctioned sport. Adding flag football as a district-funded sport would decrease the cost to participate and incentivize involvement from students who would otherwise be unable to afford the activity. The district estimates the first-year cost for all four schools to be $48,000. The assistant principals for athletics, principals and district administrators are supportive of the proposal.

district-funded boys lacrosse proposal. On behalf of the Glenbard North/East/South parent-funded boys lacrosse co-op, assistant principals for athletics D’Wayne Bates, Matthew Bowser, Tim Carlson and Joe Kain have submitted a proposal for the team to become a district-funded sport.

The parent-funded programs have run successfully for the past three years. Boys lacrosse is an IHSA-sanctioned sport, and is growing across the Midwest. Adding boys lacrosse as a district-funded sport would decrease the cost to participate and encourage involvement from students who would otherwise be unable to afford the activity. The district estimates the first-year cost to be $7,000. The assistant principals for athletics, principals and district administrators are supportive of the proposal.

College of DuPage facility use agreement for reunification. The College of DuPage (COD) has been a long-standing partner with Glenbard South High School as an evacuation and reunification site. As administration has conducted training and tabletop exercises at the district-wide level, we have evaluated the efficacy of our plan to not only evacuate, but to perform the reunification process with families should a significant and devastating event occur at one of our high schools.

In accordance with our Emergency Operations Plan, should an event occur that requires students to be dismissed for the remainder of the day, we need a site large enough to accommodate what would be a lengthy and complex process.

This past fall, district administration engaged leadership from COD to request expansion of our existing agreement to provide space for Glenbard South to also encompass a situation that would arise at any of our high school campuses.

Performance Services, Inc. installation agreement. Performance Services, Inc. (PSI) has been a long-standing partner with the district for more than a decade. As we enter into this next phase of our 10-year facility master plan, it is appropriate that we update our contract for the upcoming scope of work that will be performed by PSI.

Over the next several years, we have budgeted approximately $73 million of guaranteed energy savings contract projects. This agreement will provide the ability to engage PSI to continue to perform projects that ensure we have efficient infrastructure and continue our commitment to warm, safe and dry educational environments.

school calendar amendment 2024-25. The 2024-25 school calendar, which was adopted on October 23, 2023, had five emergency days identified as follows:

  • Tuesday, May 27, 2025 (follows a Monday holiday)
  • Wednesday, May 28, 2025
  • Thursday, May 29, 2025
  • Friday, May 30, 2025
  • Monday, June 2, 2025

No emergency days were needed due to inclement weather. It was recommended that the 2024-25 school calendar be modified to remove the five remaining emergency days and to list the last day of the 2024-25 school year as Friday, May 23, 2025.

beverage vending contract. Glenbard’s contract with Pepsi Beverages Company was originally approved in 2022. It expires at the end of this year and allows for a two-year renewal. The district has been pleased with Pepsi’s products and service. All products sold are in compliance with federal regulations provided for by the United States Department of Agriculture.

The renewal allows the district to retain favorable terms based on decline in volume over the life of the contract. Some key commission elements that will continue are:

  • Annual sponsorship fee: $6,000
  • Annual scholarship fund: $4,000 (shared equally with each Glenbard high school)
  • Commissions and rebates based on volume:
    • Vending sale commissions 30%
  • Gatorade sideline kits: $1,000 per year

new textbook adoptions 2025-26. The 19 new textbook and novel titles proposed for adoption have been reviewed and approved by the department chairs in the curricular area, the assistant principals for instruction and the principals at each building where the course will be taught. They were reviewed by the Student Performance and Achievement Committee on April 23, 2025.

There are two new textbook adoptions this year, one for Biology Honors and an additional textbook for Dual Credit English 1101 and 1102. The other titles are all novels for English courses.

For the English department, there are 17 new novels. Of the 17 titles, 15 are for student-choice units. Over the past seven years, the English departments have steadily increased the opportunity for students to read high-interest novels as a part of literature circles. With literature circles, students are offered a choice of several books that all focus on a similar theme. Literature circles allow for student choice, reflect an ability to differentiate and are designed to increase student engagement. These recommendations also fit the thematic studies connected to other units within each semester and reflect diversity in a number of areas. Purchasing these novels in OverDrive allows the district to purchase titles on demand – a quick and cost-efficient process.

textbook agreement – Bedford, Freeman and Worth. Glenbard uses seven textbooks from the Bedford, Freeman & Worth Publishing Group (BFW) and this contract is up for renewal this year. BFW is providing all teacher materials and print textbooks at no additional charge.

Resolution to Appoint School Treasurer and Approve Treasurer’s Surety Bond. The Illinois School Code requires regional superintendents of schools to file an affidavit with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) showing which treasurers of school districts in their region are properly bonded. This affidavit must be filed by September 1 of each year.

The School Code requires each treasurer of a school district to be properly bonded. The penalty of the bond shall be 10 percent of the amount of all bonds, notes, mortgages, moneys and effects of which the treasurer is to have custody. The bond shall be increased or decreased from time to time, as the increase or decrease of the amount of notes, bonds, mortgages, moneys and effects may require. The bond shall be payable to the township trustees of schools over the district or payable to the school board of the district, whichever is applicable. The bond shall be filed with the regional superintendent of schools.

The district has worked with insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher to identify a carrier that would provide Glenbard with the most competitive rate. Glenbard’s treasurer must be bonded at 10 percent of $153,438,000 or $15,343,800.

The annual cost to purchase the surety bond through Liberty Mutual is $9,206.

The resolution appointed Seth Chapman as school treasurer through June 30, 2026 and authorized the treasurer surety bond per school code requirements.
