To help make sense of the college admission process, journalist and higher education authority Selingo returns to GPS to give a peek behind the curtain of college acceptance. For an entire admissions cycle, he was embedded in three college admissions offices and followed a group of high school seniors through the application process. During this time, he learned from those who have a role in who gets in and why.
Selingo will highlight the implications of recent policy changes on acceptance and reveal why teenagers and families have much to gain by broadening their notion of what qualifies as a good college.
Selingo has written about higher education for more than two decades and is a New York Times bestselling author. His book, “Who Gets In & Why: A Year Inside College Admissions,” was published in September 2020 and was named among the 100 Notable Books of the year by The New York Times. Selingo is a special advisor for innovation and professor of practice at Arizona State University. He also co-hosts the podcast FutureU.
