South Theatre to present “Where the Wild Things Are”
Join Glenbard South for a performance of “Where the Wild Things Are” adapted by student Kaitlyn Urbanowicz, from the original children’s book by Maurice Sendak. Performances will be October 31 at 7:30 p.m., November 1 at 4:30 p.m. and November 2 at 2:00 p.m. 

This is a student written, produced, designed and directed show that is sure to delight fans of the book, as well as audience members new to the story of Max and the night he “wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind and another.”

“Where the Wild Things Are” will be presented in the Glenbard South Theatre. Please enter through Door 9 (Theatre Entrance) near Abruzzo Lane. All seats are $5 general admission. Tickets in advance at this link or at the door. Cash/check will be accepted at the door. Credit card purchases must be made in advance online; online/credit card sales close six hours before each show. The run time of the show is approximately 30 minutes.

Student leaders include writer and producer Kaitlyn Urbanowicz; director Olivia Abbott; scenic designer Breanne Crawford; lighting designer Andrew Lullo; sound designer Erin Egan; charge artist Amelia Buhle; master carpenter Joe Johnson; costume crew head Ashe DeFlorio; assistant stage manager Isabella Dodd, and stage manager Abigail Anderson.

Wednesday Addams, the princess of darkness, has fallen in love with sweet Lucas from the ordinary Beineke family, and she has invited his family over to have dinner at the Addams Family home. In one seemingly normal night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams Family must finally face the most horrible, disgusting, and dark thing they’ve been avoiding for generations: change.

 “The Addams Family” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. October 31 through November 2 in the auditorium at Glenbard West. Tickets are $14. Purchase tickets at this link.

North to honor academic achievement, good citizenship
Glenbard North will honor its PAWS recipients for the first quarter with a breakfast celebration on October 22.

 The PAWS program recognizes students’ academic excellence, academic improvement, improved attendance and acts of good citizenship.  Students who receive this honor represent a cross-section of the student population at Glenbard North.

The GPS Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families will present Rescuing Our Teens: 8 Solutions to Our Crisis of Disaffected Youth with clinical psychologist John Duffy on Thursday, Oct. 17. This event will be presented in a hybrid in-person event at the Glen Ellyn Public Library and online at 7 p.m. Oct. 17. The GPS Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families will host Laura Koehler in a program titled Teen Anxiety and School Anxiety: Dealing with Resistance and Refusal on Tuesday, Oct. 22, for a Zoom webinar at noon and a hybrid in-person event at the Nicols Public Library in Naperville and on Zoom at 7 p.m. Go to the GPS Parent Series website for information and the links to these webinars.

East Athletic Boosters craft fair on Oct. 26
