When Duffy began noticing a sense of hopelessness and disconnection in young people, he went to work to find out why. To assist families, he developed eight practical steps for dealing with the common issues that teens face. His most recent book, “Rescuing our Sons,” gives new perspectives and insights on the teenage brain.
Duffy will explain adolescent behavior and offer methods for raising youth motivated to overcome depression and anxiety and avoid risky behaviors. He will discuss strategies to become the effective, confident parent adolescents need and equip them with life skills to create a bright future.
Duffy is a clinical psychologist and nationally recognized expert in self-awareness, relationships, and parenting. He also is the author of three number-one bestsellers: “The Available Parent,” “Parenting the New Teen in the Age of Anxiety: Raising Happy Healthy Humans,” and “Rescuing Our Sons.”

Schools recognized for AP School Honor Roll by College Board
Each of our high schools has been recognized for the 2024 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll by the College Board. College Board’s AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose Advanced Placement programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit and maximizing college readiness.
In addition, Glenbard East, South and West have earned the AP Access Award. The AP Access Award recognizes schools that demonstrate a commitment to equitable access to advanced coursework. Schools earn this additional award if the percentage of AP Exam takers who are underrepresented?minority and/or low-income students reflect the school’s overall student demographics.
Superintendent David Larson said, “We are proud of our students who challenge themselves by taking one or more AP courses. These courses prepare students for college courses. Students also have the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. In 2024, we had a record number of students graduating with early college credit earned through AP. We are grateful for the support of our students’ families. In partnership with our talented faculty and staff, they are helping students prepare for success after high school.”
Oct. 14, 2024 is a student attendance day
Typically, Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day has been a nonattendance day for students. However, General Election Day (November 5, 2024) was declared a holiday by revisions to Illinois state law. To accommodate this holiday, Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day will not be observed as a holiday rather than adding an additional day at the end of the school year. School will be in session on Monday, October 14, 2024.
