District 87’s 2025-2026 Level II Student Training titled Rise and Shine is a continuation of last school year’s (SY 2024-25) Speak Up training. It aims to inspire a positive and inclusive school culture where students feel safe, valued, and necessary. Central to this initiative is the V.E.R.B. approach, which emphasizes the importance of Valuing, Empathy, Respect, and Being Kind. By teaching these core principles, Rise and Shine will empower every individual to contribute to a welcoming and compassionate community.

Using an engaging mix of comedy, spoken word poetry, powerful storytelling, and interactive games, Rise and Shine will deliver a message of hope, empowerment, and mutual respect. The program actively involves student participants, encouraging them to reflect on their role in shaping the school environment. These training sessions combine humor, personal stories, and hands-on activities to drive home the values of V.E.R.B., making the learning experience memorable and impactful.

In an effort to continue to foster a connected school community, Rise and Shine provides a comprehensive approach in guiding student leaders to creating peer support networks.

Through collaboration and commitment, our Glenbard schools will cultivate a supportive atmosphere where everyone has the foundation to rise, shine, and reach their fullest potential.
