The purpose of Glenbard District 87’s Facility Master Plan is to identify and address capital improvement needs at our four high schools, which are between 53 and 103 years old. We must make sure our educational spaces support today’s best practices in curriculum and instruction. Addressing these needs now allows us to continue to protect what matters most by avoiding expensive, future repairs.
In March 2024, voters approved Glenbard’s $183 million facility improvements referendum that appeared on the ballot.
Over the next 10 years, the district will fund an additional estimated $158 million of improvements from its operating budget. This amount combined with the $183 million referendum comes to an estimated total of $341 million for facility projects.
Thank you to the Glenbard District 87 school community for your support of our 10-Year Facility Master Plan. This community decision reflects both the strength of our district and our shared commitment to ensuring students have access to the learning environments they need and deserve. The work is already underway, and while we know that construction can at times feel disruptive and raise questions, it is important to remember the long-term benefits for our school communities.
Together, we are addressing long-standing facility needs and investing in resources that will benefit today’s students and generations to come. These projects will enhance educational spaces, modernize infrastructure, increase safety and accessibility as well as create opportunities for deeper, more engaging learning experiences across our schools.
From the beginning of this process, transparency and communication have been our priority. We remain committed to keeping you informed as construction progresses in the weeks and months ahead. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and for continuing to play a vital role in shaping the future of education in Glenbard District 87.
